Aurelien Tchouameni: Real Madrid in advanced talks with Monaco

Real Madrid are in advanced talks to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco. Monaco want at least 80 million euros for the 22-year-old France midfielder, who is also attracting interest from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

Champions League winners Real are offering Tchouameni a five-year contract to make the move to Spain.

The Spanish giants have reportedly submitted an offer of 80 million euros, plus add-ons, with the hopes that it could be enough for Monaco to part ways with the player.

Tchouameni has enjoyed another successful season in Ligue 1, helping Monaco finish third in the league for the second consecutive season. The defensive midfielder made 50 appearances and contributed with five goals and three assists in all competitions during the 2021/22 campaign.

The France international is highly coveted for his work rate and ability to push the ball up the pitch. He ranks in the 99th percentile for interceptions, the 87th percentile for progressive passes, and the 85th for attempted passes among midfielders.

At only 22 years of age, it’s easy to see why a talent like Tchouameni has become so in demand across the top clubs in Europe. Despite his relative youth, he has shown an ability to compete at a high-level, even earning eight caps so far for a France team that does not lack talented players in the midfield.

Primarily a defensive-minded player, Tchouameni is comfortable in several midfield positions, and Monaco teammate Cesc Fabregas has previously suggested he also has the ability to play in the No.10 role.

Real Madrid added talented youngster Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes last summer, and they look to be on the verge of adding another young French midfielder in Tchouameni.

After narrowly missing out on Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid look set to instead complete the transfer of another talented French youngster for their next generation.

Ancelotti calls Tchouameni

In his attempt to accelerate negotiations to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti called the Frenchman to discuss the latter’s future.

After Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain emerged as potential suitors for his signature, Tchouameni had doubts about which team to choose as his next destination.

The France international had reportedly confessed to Monaco teammates that he was unsure of his potential role in a team where Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Fede Valverde and Casemiro are considered as undisputed starters.

Meanwhile, Camavinga has emerged on the scene, and Dani Ceballos’ future may depend on whether Real Madrid manage to land Tchouameni.
