Will Real Madrid Regain the La Liga Title?

Real Madrid were not satisfied with the result which came last season. Real Madrid were the favourites to win the league for maximum time. Dropping points in the crucial stages of the league cost them the title. They finished 2 points below their local rivals Atletico Madrid, which was very upsetting for them and their fans as well. They were also eliminated by the English side Chelsea in the Champions League semi-finals.

This saw them going trophyless in a season for the first time in a decade. At the start of the 2021-22 season, Madrid suffered a huge loss on their defensive side. They saw the exit of Sergio Ramos and Varane. As a club that were awarded with the Club of the Century award, the previous season’s result was not acceptable. Real Madrid began their hunt for the trophies in the new season 2021-22 with a change in the managerial post.

Carlo Ancelotti was appointed the new manager by the club. He joined Madrid after his managerial spell in England with Everton. Ancelotti has managed Madrid earlier as well. He has won the Champions League, the Copa Del Rey and the UEFA Super Cup with them. He was a few points short of winning the La Liga. Madrid as a club believe that the new manager can improve the condition of this team.

Madrid started the season very well and are also dominating the league. Out of 22 games played till now, they have won 15 games, drawn 5 and lost 2 games. They are at the top of the table with 50 points and a lead of 4 points over the 2nd position Sevilla.

This season Sevilla has also made a strong approach in the league and they also have a lead of 6 points over the 3rd placed Real Betis. After signing a Loan deal with Man United’s forward Anthony Martial for the rest of the season, they have made La Liga’s title race exciting. Real Madrid have been at the top spot many times and have been chased by other teams.

Madrid last won the league in the 2019-20 season when Zidane was in charge. Madrid performances in the recent games have been amazing. They are also doing well in the UCL as they topped their group table and qualified for the knockout stage. Players like Benzema who have been scoring for the team since his arrival shows their value to the team.

He has scored 17 goals in La Liga and 5 goals in the UCL. Vinicius Jr has also helped the team with his abilities. He has scored 12 goals in the league and twice in the UCL. Benzema and Vinicius look to have linked up well as they are not only seen scoring the goals but also making them. In total both have made 12 assists in the league. Madrid recently acquired the Supercopa where they defeated their arch-rivals Barcelona in the semis and Athletic Club in the finals.

With a positive first half of the season will Madrid be able to continue the same quality of football for the rest of the season?. Will this good run be ended by the challengers Sevilla?. As they enter the second half the matches get tougher, all we can do is wait and watch what Madrid are capable of.
